~Melanie Harwood & Denise Meissner, OTR

Co-Founders eduCCate Global

Meet Melanie Harwood,

Education Specialist, Social Entrepreneur & Philanthropist

Melanie Harwood is an Education Specialist that is passionate about developing innovative education packages to close the attainment gap and deliver the deeper cognitive thinkers of the future.

This eduCCate Global Certified Facilitator Training is just one example of how and what she creates and curates in order to empower schools to develop their cross-curricular climate curriculum.

To put her intentions into action, Melanie has funded: several schools to participate in and complete eduCCate Global Awards; teacher and team members to attend COP 25; various initiatives with the United Nations (UNITAR) and Hammersmith & Fulham Borough Council; and, after the launch of the Climate Change Teacher Course at COP 24, she sponsored over 329,000 educators around the world to become Certified Climate Change Teachers!

Meet Denise Meissner, OTR

Occupational Therapist, Philanthropist, Social Entrepreneur & Mother of a Son with Autism

Combining her 30+ years of Occupational Therapy expertise with her 20+ years experience of being a mother to her son with autism, Denise creates and presents programmes, courses and workshops to schools as well as national conferences. Her focus is on supporting carers/parents/educators of children with Special Education Needs so they can create joyful learning and living experiences with each other and with their planet.

Along with her philanthropic works via eduCCate Global, Denise also gives to specific charities that support underprivileged youth and overworked carers. Her favourite charity, Centre Point, provides safe rooms for youth to sleep and study so that they can achieve their academic goals and prepare to join the work force.

Together, Melanie & Denise Work to Generate Systemic Changes to the Ways in Which Schools Learn & Deliver Climate Change Information

Because they believe that actions create change,

they have personally invested

their own time, energy and funds and:

  • Paid £10,000 to the United Nations (UNITAR) in order to set up a joint portal for all the eduCCate award schools to start their journey through the Climate Change Teacher Academy certification process. We created and devised the Climate Change Teacher Area on the UNITAR portal to begin with.
  • Funded the costs of building of their very own closed, safe learning portal to evolve the eduCCate Climate Change Teacher Academy into the not-for-profit eduCCate Global organisation, which includes Awards, content and Facilitator Training.
  • Funded the costs of curating and upgrading programmes that help educators create cross-curricular climate curriculum, which include Mini-Climate Readers, Wild Planet Explorers, and the Carbon Footprint Challenge.
  • Participated in and completed a wide variety of university courses to find the best information and presentation needed to up-skill teachers from lesson planners to that of eduCCate Global Certified Carbon Literacy Specialist Teachers and Certified Sustainability & Climate Change Teachers
  • Reached out to the brightest and best around the world to build the GCSEs, Masters Degree and PhDs. The goal is to prepare this generation to lead our planet forward with the skills and mindset of sustainable living.
  • Developed partnerships with some of the most innovative and outstanding engineers and educators in order to develop to discover where there are gaps in teaching systems and methods.
  • NOW!  We are working towards upskilling 100 million teachers in the next 12 months and that is why we need your help!  We need eduCCate Global Certified Facilitators to guide schools through the eduCCate Global Awards.  We have honed our processes and the content we deliver to ensure every school becomes a centre of Carbon Literacy with highly skilled Certified Carbon Literacy Specialist Teachers that confidently build as well as deliver the cross-curricular climate curriculum.
  • We have so much more coming through with thousands of schools and countries signing up to ensure every child, in every classroom, in every school, everywhere has the knowledge to adapt, mitigation and to transition.  Our goal is to deliver that societal mindset towards transition and being carbon neutral.  Each and every one of us can do this but we need the knowledge and the skills to share with our nearest, dearest and outwards to our communities.
  • The purpose of education?  Is to Thrive and Survive.  to Lead and Succeed.
